In ancient Greek mythology, they were the beautiful sister goddesses who attended Venus, the goddess of love. They were generally pictured as the three figures, the two outer facing the viewer, the central figure facing away. Aglaia, the representation of splendour, is she who the giver of gifts. Euphrosyne, representing jollity and mirth, is the sister who receives. Thalia, identified with abundance, is she who returns.
